THEN AND NOW: From Kindergarden to First Grade

Star Bar Ranch Border Collie School has finally begun!
Remember only a year ago?
Here we are now!
The days we waited for for so long are finally here:
The pups are a year old, life is getting serious, school is in session!

"BURR" then and now:

"STAR BAR DUKE": Finally his little schemes lead to a purpose!

"STAR BAR DAISY": From the "cute little innocent" pup, don't let her fool you!

"STAR BAR HEART": He always thought he was special, and I so much hoped he would be,

my "pride and joy"!

OH, LITTLE "SOCKS"!

NO, you will have to stay in Kindergarden for now!
A year from now, what will you be we wonder???

And more babies, babies, babies,...

Well, it is this time a year.

We have been waiting for this day to come desperately, ok I better admitt, me probably a little more than Jim:

We are picking up my new baby tomorrow!

No not another horsebaby, this time it is a Border Collie puppy!

Jim and I years ago fell in love with the not so traditional red Border Collies.

Actually they are more chocolate brown color.

Yes, we all know color should be one of the least important things in a good quality working stock dog.....

But what if we could have both....????? What would life be without dreams.....

And as luck will have it:
The parents, both traditional black and white, the dad, Don, 2009 Canadian Nursery Champion and 2009 USBCHA National Nursery Champion,

the mum, Maid, a 2008 and 2009 USBCHA National Finalist,

and amongst a lot of black and white pups, there she was:

We called her "Socks", and she is growing so fast:

And she is finally ready to be picked up!!!!!

We would like to thank Scott and Jenny with Alta Pete Stockdogs (http://www.altapetestockdogs.com/ ) for giving us the opportunity to own such a promising pup!!!

WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT.......

So goes the story: Beginning of 2008 we decided: No more horsebabies for a while.

2009: We really missed watching little ones be born and watch them play and grow.

Nevertheless we stuck with our decision.

About exactly a year ago we had a little incident happen, that nobody thought too much about:

Mr. Jackson Whizchex, one of our own horses, at that time still a yearling and not been gelded yet, had snuck through the gate into the marepen as our hired help was putting more roundbales into the pens. We had gone to town for a couple hours, and coming home little stallion was back in his pen with all the boys, and supposedly nothing happened.

Well here is NOTHING:

As some people say: "Everything happens for a reason!"

Andrea is happy: She gets to enjoy a little horsebaby.

Jim gave him his name according to his come about:

Meet: HES A SHOTGUN WEDDING !!!

Well, " the perfect little boy", little does he know, that he hadn't been planned at all!
Also A BIG THANKS to Lorie Engbrecht and Countrysidefarms for doing such a great job looking after the foaling and making sure mum and baby were off to a great start in this winterconditions!!!
